Biography
Early life
Benson Otieno is a seasoned trainer on matters ECDE knowledge. Growing up as a young boy in a small village, Ligega, in Siaya county, the love for education, the desire and determination to succeed and make changes not only on my personal life but also on those around me, drove me to focus ahead despite coming from a humble background.
Education indeed opens many vistas of life. Premised on this and the role it plays in our personal lives and the society at large as enshrined on the NGE [National Goals of Education]Nos. 2, 3, and 5, there are compelling reasons to pursue it. I’m a product and witness of the effect and changes it can bring on both individual and social lives of people.
Experience
As earlier mentioned, the role education plays inspired me and I was able to develop interest and passion to become a teacher. I thus got trained to be one. I regard this as a calling and do it with passion to bring transformation in the society. I have served in different educational institutions such as Skatal Education college in Kisumu, sky limit College in Siaya and currently serving at Imara TTC.
In all these institutions of learning, I’ve gained immense knowledge, skills and experiences that have leveraged my character and professionalism. I have skills in human relation, resource management, administrative as well as communication skills
Role
I presently serve as an administrator and instructor/tutor in the college. My desire is to see Imara reach greater heights in transforming lives.
Achievement
For the stint I have been in imara, I have accomplished several goals such as:
- Producing teacher trainees who are well developed in character and meet ethical career standards
- Facilitating successful training from one course level to another
- Coordinating and transforming resources towards achievement of educational goals
- Liaising with the learning institutions in the community to help hone skills acquired by teacher trainees during the education process and turn them into education products
Personal touch
Benson believes in integrity as a guiding principle as enshrined in chapter 6 of the Kenyan constitution as well as perseverance and focus as ways of achieving goals and developing characters are responsible in the society. I’m also an ardent football supporter and used to play volleyball up to tertiary level.
